Founded by husband-and-wife team Donagh and Gemma Quigley, the business started with two pots, a soap mould and a determination to create natural products that were gentle on sensitive skin and a pleasure to use. Before founding the business, Donagh built a career around craft, creativity and entrepreneurship, experiences that continue to shape the company's belief in making things properly.
More than fifteen years later, that small venture has grown into one of Ireland's best-known independent lifestyle brands.
From our restored mill in Slane, County Meath, we create bath, body and home fragrance collections designed to elevate everyday rituals. We continue to formulate, make and fill our products in-house, combining naturally derived ingredients, beautiful fragrances and attention to detail at every stage of the process.
Today, our products can be found in leading retailers, hotels and homes across Ireland and beyond. While much has changed since those early days, our belief remains the same: how something is made matters.
That means creating products people genuinely enjoy using. It means backing quality over shortcuts. It means supporting local employment, investing in craftsmanship and taking responsibility for how we do business.
As a certified B Corp, we are committed to building a business that balances people, planet and purpose, while creating products that bring a little everyday luxury to bath, body and home.

We’re one small, happy family at The Handmade Soap Company, and we want to keep it that way. Our people’s wellbeing is very important to us, so we always do what we can to make work feel less like, well, work. And as much as we love all the nice smells around the office, we regularly swap them for some fresh air and a well-deserved day out.
